Rukma, you are never far!

It’s three years and time for a line
For someone whom I had thought to be mine;

Rukmai, my fair baby, my toddler, my teenager
Until she was given in marriage to a dear stranger;

The couple started on a wonderful life
As she became his cherished wife;

A handsome couple did they make
Life seemed to lay a red carpet for their sake;

Good things are never forever, anyone will tell,
As Rukmai decided one day to bid farewell ;

The shock we got was sudden; the wound deep and not neat
A lifetime falls too short for it to heal or retreat;

Family, are we moving on forward with resilience!
Was this not what Rukmai did with such brilliance?

  1. I got emotional. Hats off to you for writing such beautiful lines I must admit it requires lotz of courage. You are a strong lady and continue to be the same person.

    1. I believe each one of us is assigned a role. She enacted hers with excellence. I am doing my part as best as I can until it’s time to leave the stage. Thank you, dear Rajani, for finding me brave, which I may not be.

  2. One, among many lessons, she taught, was resilience. So we are carrying on. We miss you Ruk, deeply. Our world is not the same without you.

  3. Dear Rukma, your smile is with us, intact; and so are your words of comfort. Though much younger to me, you stood strong by me when I needed the most. Love you for what you have been, always!
